Personal:

Born 1972 in north central Wisconsin

Married for 11 yrs to very supportive non-running wife. Two children : Fiona, 6 (in picture) and Elliott (2 yrs)

Co-Race Director of  Delano Park 12 Hour Run (www.delano12.com). President of River City Runners (www.rivercityrunners.org)

3 cats and 1 dog (chocolate lab)

In high school, I was an slightly overweight , badly asthmatic J.V. cross country runner.  I enjoyed being part of the team but never excelled.   The summer after my freshman year in college I decided to run a marathon.  6 weeks later I ran a 3:11 at Grandma's Marathon in Duluth (1991) and I was hooked on long distance running where my asthma wasn't as much of a factor.

Down in Birmingham for Elliott's surgery.  He was in the special care unit which doesn't allow visitors from 2 - 4:30pm.  I fit in a run in Mountain Brook,AL.  I followed the first runner I saw (which I had to admit to my wife was a female with minimal clothing who was trotting along at around 7:30 pace).  She guided me to the Jemison park trail and then I passed her.  The trail was great.  Curvy trail along part of the Cahaba River .  Some paved, some dirt.  Just great.   Climbed a hill and went past the Mountain Brook Club where I got a glance of some tennis and golf being played.   Birmingham is really hilly!

Further proof that treadmills are evil.  Downpouring.  Hampton Inn Treadmill.  Pretty rickety.  Only could go 6mph.  Ramped up the elevation.  8%, 10%, 12%, 15%....  Hard at 5.5 mph.  Dripping sweat with ipod blaring.    Injured my plantar.  Hopefully not seriously.

Still in B'ham.  Nice loop. Thought I was touring the country.  Lakeshore Drive (Chicago?) along Cahaba.  Past Samford.  Up Green Springs Highway.   To Broadway Dr. (New York?).  Oxmoor Rd (sounds english) through Homewood and then finishing on Hollywood Drive (California)?).  Had a great time.   Really should have rested my foot.
