In high school, I was an slightly overweight , badly asthmatic J.V. cross country runner.  I enjoyed being part of the team but never excelled.   The summer after my freshman year in college I decided to run a marathon.  6 weeks later I ran a 3:11 at Grandma's Marathon in Duluth (1991) and I was hooked on long distance running where my asthma wasn't as much of a factor.

Hadn't run in almost a week due to work and family obligations.  It was good in that I really needed a breat to heal up completely.

I got a little excited in my run-  combination of ipod playlist, good weather, and a pent-up desire to run.     I did a 7:10 mile and then a 6:30 paced quarter mile.  My hamstring started to tighten so I backed it off..

It felt the best it has since my 8hr run.

This evening its sore.

Slow run but I'm running.  And essentially pain free.

Lunch Run at work.  In between hill repeats (slow ones), I did 5 sets of pushups (15,13,13,10,and 18).  I've made it through week one of six in the hundredpushups.com training plan.  When I started 10 days ago with a fitness test, I could do 18 max  so I feel good about now being able to do 18  after 4 sets.

My hamstring is feeling much better.  Not quite ready for intervals or racing yet.

Pushed Elliott in the stroller.  Weather was overcast so it felt good inspite of the fact that it was 85F.   Elliott is such a good passenger.  He's so laid back- not a peep for over an hour.
